Dave speaking at ASTD New York City - March 2012

Upcoming sessions:

February 18th Training 2013 Conference & Expo Orlando, FL

Dave and his presentation did receive extremely high ratings (definitely, all A's)! Everyone attending was pleased and left with different perspectives, new skills, and strategic insights into the application of Dave's Predictive Evaluation ROI for Training method!

Personally, I was both impressed and grateful that Dave was able to roll with the unplanned challenges we encountered just before he arrived. [The auditorium received a fresh coat of paint (beautiful to see, not pleasant to breathe) and the overhead projection equipment stopped working (an older, less elegant table top projector was substituted).] Dave exhibited patience, professionalism, and excellent technical skills! The program was excellent!

Speaking Topics

Strategic Learning Strategy & Curriculum Creation

Learning is an economic elixir.  It makes people and organizations more adaptable, responsive and nimble.  It serves as the bedrock for innovation, as it’s impossible to innovate without learning something new.  It’s the foundation for extraordinary customer service, employee attraction, retention, and development and is the fuel for profitable growth. It can shape culture.  And when it’s done right, it’s one of those rarest opportunities – where employers’ and employees’ needs are in perfect harmony.  In the vast majority of cases, it offers significant benefits for both employers and employees. In this session, Dave Basarab teaches you how to have the right learning strategy that will increase your organization’s ability to create value.

Training Transfer

Only 10-15% of training skills are successfully transferred to the job which means that we run our training factories at an 85-90% defect rate. Companies would go out of business if their products had such a defect rate. The good news is that this can be corrected so that organizations increase their transfer rate to 70% or more. Dave Basarab can tell you how. In this session Dave will talk describe proven techniques for increasing the transfer of training from the learning experience to back on-the-job   participants successfully implementing and integrating skill’s learned in training into their work behavior.

Predictive Evaluation

At last, an answer to the question that had bedeviled trainers for decades: how do you make the business case for training? In this session, Dave Basarab talks about how Predictive Evaluation works and how it will greatly enhance the acceptance of training as a business function - one where projections are made, progress is measured, and effectiveness is determined. Rather than being regarded as an expense and an act of faith, training is seen as an investment with a concrete payoff. Predictive Evaluation enables you to effectively and accurately forecast training’s value to your company, measure against these predictions, establish indicators to track your progress (and make mid-course corrections if needed) and report the results in a language that business executives respond to and understand. It’s an approach that can be used for any sort of training program, in any setting, whether planned, newly implemented, or long-established.

Success Stories

As a training provider at TACK-USA, I have seen all too often the missed opportunities when training is followed-up on ineffectively or not at all. Predictive Evaluation outlines a process that not only measures the effectiveness, but also includes strategies to ensure the skills are adopted and ROI is maximized. This is a how to book, not a high level concept. The practices outlined here are the best I have seen. They will be effective. The author got this exactly right.
