Ways to Use Learning Bursts
The Learning Burst method goes beyond standard training expectations and provides something "more" while adding little or nothing to its cost. The value of using Learning Bursts is:
Delivers a teaching approach that is practical, simple, and to the point instead of the more traditional courses delivered either in classrooms or online.
It is a teaching vehicle that is tailored to the changing work styles and learning behavior of today’s employees in a cost-effective, individually customized, and company-focused manner.
So what are some of the ways that companies are using Learning Bursts?
As a stand-alone replacement for traditional classroom or online courses. Learning Bursts work well when you have an existing course that is information/knowledge based versus skill based. In numerous cases, Learning Bursts have been used to replace traditional classes – the most common reason for converting is the cost saving with no loss in knowledge gained.
As a supplement to traditional classroom or online courses. Use Learning Bursts as a pre-work assignment, it will help participants to “hit the ground running” in the classroom. Here you use Learning Bursts to provide all the knowledge then use your traditional classroom time for application and practice.
As a post-work assignment, it is an excellent review and reinforcement mechanism.
In a blended solution. In combination with a series of supporting webinars.

In this approach a group of students (we call them the cohort) are assigned to a Learning Burst course. They attend a kickoff webinar in which the course is introduced and the Learning Bursts are assigned. Students complete the Learning Bursts individually (usually within 2-4 weeks). A mid-session webinar is held for 2 things: (1) answers questions about any of the content and (2) put the students into virtual teams to complete a simulation or case study (this is the application of what was learned in the Learning Burst assignments). A final webinar is held in which the students present their solution to the case study or simulation and the program is closed.
